...RED FLAG WARNING FROM 1 PM TO 8 PM TODAY FOR MUCH OF EASTERN AND PORTIONS OF WESTERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING FOR MUCH OF EASTERN AND PORTIONS OF WESTERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY... .Southwest winds are forecast to strengthen Thursday over northern and central New Mexico, and will be combined with a very dry and unstable airmass with high Haines and above average warmth. About 5 to 15 consecutive hours of single digit humidities are forecast over the region Thursday afternoon and evening. Poor humidity recoveries expected Thursday night with dry, windy and unstable conditions expected to be more widespread for a longer duration Friday. ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM TO 8 PM MDT THURSDAY... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING... The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag Warning...which is in effect from 1 PM to 8 PM MDT Thursday. A Fire Weather Watch has also been issued. This Fire Weather Watch is in effect from Friday morning through Friday evening. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* AREA AND TIMING...Northeast Highlands and Plains, East Central Plains and Sandia, Manzano and Gallinas Mountains from early Thursday afternoon through Thursday evening and again from Friday morning through Friday evening.

* 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts to around 40 mph Thursday afternoon. Southwest 20 to 35 mph with gusts to around 45 mph Friday afternoon.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Ranging from 5 to 10 percent both Thursday and Friday afternoons.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

* AFFECTED AREAS: EAST CENTRAL PLAINS ... NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS ... NORTHEAST PLAINS ... SANDIA MANZANO AND GALLINAS MOUNTAINS
