Police Blotter May 23rd - May 27th

Detective Update:

On May 23rd, patrol officers responded to an armed robbery of a pedestrian which occurred in the 7200 block of Manila Avenue. Patrol officers learned the suspects robbed the man of his cellular phone then fled in a vehicle which had recently been reported stolen to the Hayward Police Department. During the investigation, ECPD detectives were able to identify the suspect, an 18-year-old man from Hayward as the robber. The subject was arrested by a neighboring agency the same day ECPD detectives identified him. The man was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility and has been charged with the ECPD’s robbery case.

May 22nd, 2018:

Stolen Vehicle – 6700 block Waldo Ave:
Between 5/21/18 at 1930 hours and 5/22/18 at 0830 hours, an unknown suspect took the victim’s grey 2007 Yamaha R6 motorcycle.

Warrant (X2) – San Pablo Ave / Madison Ave:
At 0902 hours, an officer arrested a 57-year-old man from Richmond on two Contra Costa County warrants, both stemming from El Cerrito cases. He was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Auto Burglary – 3000 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 0942 hours, an officer was flagged down about an auto burglary which just occurred. Suspect 1 broke the driver side rear passenger window of the victim’s vehicle and stole a backpack containing medical supplies. Suspect 1 fled to a silver Ranger Rover SUV driven by suspect 2.

Auto Burglary – Nations, 6060 Central Ave:
Between 0900 and 0940 hours, an unknown suspect broke the passenger side rear window of the victim’s vehicle and stole a backpack.

Failure to Yield – E/B I-80 Off-ramp / MacDonald Ave:
At 1452 hours, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle as it exited E/B I-80 at MacDonald Ave. The driver of the car drove to S. 44th Street and made a u-turn to go back eastbound. When the officer activated his vehicle’s siren, the driver of the vehicle accelerated quickly, and then turned southbound onto San Pablo Ave. A pursuit was not initiated due to traffic conditions and risk to public safety.

Shoplifting – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 1904 hours, an officer reports the arrest of a 32-year-old female from Richmond who entered the business and concealed bedding and a flashlight. The woman was located a short distance away, identified as the responsible, and placed under citizen’s arrest. The female was booked and then released on a citation.

Possession of a Controlled Substance – 1900 block of Key Boulevard:
At 0106 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 33-year-old male from Richmond and a 44-year-old male from Richmond for being in possession of a controlled substance. The subjects were booked and then released on a citation.

May 23rd, 2018:

Warrant – W/B I-80 / Carlson Blvd:
At 1055 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 34-year-old man from Richmond on a warrant. He was booked and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant – 7100 Block B Street:
At 1128 hours, an officer investigated a suspicious vehicle and arrested a 42-year-old man from El Sobrante on a Contra Costa County warrant. He was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Possess Controlled Substance, Drug Paraphernalia, Probation Violation – Knott Ave / Key Blvd:
At 1312 hours, an officer arrested a 45-year-old man from San Pablo for being in possession of methamphetamine and a pipe. He was also on probation in Contra Costa County. He was booked at the ECPD and then released on a citation.

Residential Burglary – 1600 block Elm Street:
Between 1400 and 1500 hours, an unknown suspect forced entry into the victim’s residence and stole foreign currency and jewelry.

Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle – Macdonald Avenue and Mono Avenue:
On May 23rd, at 1902 hours, officers from the ECPD responded to the intersection of Macdonald and Mono Avenues on the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers learned that an unknown vehicle began chasing the victim vehicle in Richmond near the intersection of Macdonald Avenue and 23rd Street. The suspect vehicle caught up to the victim vehicle in El Cerrito where an occupant of the suspect vehicle fired several shots towards the victim vehicle. Fortunately, no one was injured during the shooting. DUI – Carlson Boulevard and Sutter Avenue:
At 0153 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested the driver, a 27-year-old male from San Pablo, for driving under the influence. The driver was booked and then released to a sober friend.

May 24th, 2018:
Auto Burglary – 300 block Pomona Ave:
Between 8/23/18 at 2030 and 8/24/18 at 0730 hours, an unknown suspect broke the right front window of the victim’s vehicle and stole a portable Bluetooth speaker.

Warrant – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1127 hours, an officer conducted a security check of the business and arrested a 26-year-old transient on a Contra Costa County warrant. He was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Residential Burglary – 300 block Carmel Ave:
Between 5/20/18 at 1400 and 5/24/18 at 0930 hours, an unknown suspect forced entry into a residence for sale. The suspect stole a kitchen stove valued at $2700.

Residential Burglary – 2400 Block of Edwards Ave:
At 1140 hours, officers responded to an interrupted residential burglary. Three suspects forced entry to the front door and fled to a newer black Chevy Impala with paper plates which was driven by a fourth suspect.

Shoplifting, Possess Controlled Substance, Drug Paraphernalia – Marshall’s, 10794 San Pablo Ave:
At 1657 hours, an officer responded to a shoplifter in custody. He accepted the citizen arrest of a 26-year-old female from San Francisco. A search incident to arrest yielded crack cocaine, heroin, and drug paraphernalia. The female was booked at the ECPD and released on a citation.

Possession of a Controlled Substance – 670 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 2019 hours, officers were dispatched to a shoplifting at the business. Officers arrived in the area and located a possible suspect, a 40-year-old male from San Francisco. A search of the male revealed he was in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. The male was booked and then released on a citation.

May 25th

Warrant Arrest – Safeway 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 0852 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop. A passenger in the vehicle, a 36-year-old Santa Clara man was arrested on three felony warrants. He was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Trespassing 11965 San Pablo Ave:
Bicycle officers observed smoke coming from inside the dumpster adjacent to the unoccupied Taco Bell. During the investigation, officers located a 54-year-old transient inside the enclosure despite the property being surrounded by metal fencing and “No Trespassing” signs. The ECFD extinguished the fire, and the subject was arrested, booked, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest - Safeway 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1047 hours, an officer contacted a 31-year-old Richmond man during an unwanted subject call. The man was wanted on a robbery warrant from Solano County. He was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Grand Theft – Safeway 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1146 hours, an officer responded to the report of a fraud. The victim reported that the previous day, there were at eight fraudulent transactions to her checking account processed at the EC Safeway.

May 26th:

False Identification to a Police Officer - 3090 EC Plaza:
At 0751 hours, officers responded to the report of a subject causing a disturbance and refusing to leave Starbucks. A 33-year-old Oakland man was contacted and provided a false name to officers. He was arrested, booked and his identity was confirmed. He was released on a citation.

May 27th:

Estes Robbery – Marshalls - 10794 San Pablo Ave:
At 1507 hours, an officer responded to the report of a subject stealing clothing. While leaving the business with the property, the suspects shoved a loss prevention officer, and then fled the scene.
