15 DUI suspects arrested by SRPD Officers over the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND DUI STATISTICS

It looks like people still aren’t getting the message that driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs is extremely dangerous and can have serious consequences.

Over the Memorial Weekend Holiday, May 23rd through May 28th, Officers from the Santa Rosa Police Department were conducting extra DUI enforcement. Along with the extra patrol and the regular calls for service, SRPD Officers arrested 15 DUI suspects. Many were involved in significant collisions.
Here are a few of the noteworthy arrests:

Suspect Patrick Mullen, a 26-year-old resident of Santa Rosa He was stopped after leaving the Wednesday Night Market and was arrested for 23152(a)+(b) VC, DUI Alcohol

Suspect Fredis Menjivar, a 22-year-old resident of Santa Rosa. He was initially stopped for vehicle code violation and then tried to switch seats with his spouse during stop. There was 1-year old child in the back seat of the car. Menjivar was arrested for 23152(a) + (b) VC, DUI Alcohol and Felony 273a(a) PC, Child Endangerment.

Suspect Mackenna Moses, a 20-year-old resident of Middletown. She was stopped after aggressively following her boyfriend’s vehicle after a break-up. She was arrested for 23152(a) + (b) VC, DUI Alcohol. (Hennessy was in her car – see photo)

Suspect Victor Iboy-Guarcax, a 23-year-old resident of Santa Rosa. A citizen reported seeing his vehicle driving erratically and suspected that the driver intoxicated. Suspect Iboy-Guarcax was later located, parked in his car and drinking beer. He was arrested for 23152(a) + (b) VC, DUI Alcohol.

Suspect Nicole Deramo, a 49-year-old resident of Santa Rosa. Her husband reported that his wife was driving drunk. She was located leaving a Safeway parking lot after buying more alcohol. She was arrested for 23152(a) + (b) VC, DUI Alcohol.

Suspect Carlos Enrique Melendez-Aristondo, a 22-year-old resident of Santa Rosa. SRPD and CHP received reports of several hit & run accidents involving the same vehicle. One at McDonalds on Santa Rosa Avenue, a vehicle on 7th Street and another collision on Hwy 101. Suspect Melendez-Aristondo had fled the vehicle involved in the hit and runs, but was located on foot near the Santa Rosa Plaza. He was identified as the driver. He was arrested for 23154(a) VC, 23152(a) VC, & 23152(b) VC, DUI Alcohol and Probation violation, 20002 VC hit and run. He also had several outstanding warrants.

Suspect Edwin Leonel Benitez-Sagastume, a 56-year-old resident of Santa Rosa. He was involved in a solo vehicle crash into a ditch. He tried to leave the scene but witnesses detained him. He was arrested for 23152 (a) + (b), DUI Alcohol.

Suspect Joshua Daniel Inong, a 30-year-old resident of Santa Rosa. He was seen driving recklessly in a downtown parking lot. Suspect Inong was on DUI probation, but was uncooperative with Officers at the scene. He was arrested for 23152(a) VC, DUI Alcohol and 1203.2 PC, violation of probation.

Suspect Jaime Albert Arias-Garfias, a 36-year-old resident of Santa Rosa. He caused a 2-vehicle major collision at Stony Point Road and Hearn Avenue. The victims from the vehicle he struck were transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Suspect Arias-Garfias was also transported to a local hospital with critical injuries, but he is expected to survive. He was arrested for 23153(a) VC, 23153(b) VC, Felony DUI, and 23154(a) VC, violation of his DUI probation.

The Santa Rosa Police Department works in with the California Office of Traffic Safety through a grant and are supported by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). SRPD has a zero tolerance policy for DUI offenders.
