...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in North Carolina... French Broad River At Blantyre affecting Henderson and Transylvania Counties. Steady, moderate rainfall over the past 24 hours of 1 to 2 inches has occurred over saturated soils resulting from well-above normal rainfall since early May. Additionally, another 2-3 inches of basin-average rainfall is expected across the upper French Broad River valley through Thursday morning. This additional rainfall will result in immediate runoff into the upper French Broad River and associated tributaries, causing the French Broad River and to rise once again and will approach moderate Flood Stage heading into mid-week. * Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* The river rose above flood stage at 840 AM this Tuesday morning.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Minor flooding is defined as flooding of farmland, recreational areas, greenways, boat access ramps, and other low-lying areas especially adjacent to streams.
* Moderate flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Forecast: The French Broad River will continue rising through mid week to around 19.0 feet on Thursday. The river will fall through Friday and go below flood stage Saturday morning.
* Impact...At 18.0 feet...Minor Flooding continues. Widespread farmland flooding between the French Broad River and the railroad tracks is ongoing. The river may be overtopping the railroad tracks near Fodderstack Mountain Rd. and River Ridge Rd. The intersection of River Rd. and Big Willow Rd. is inundated with several inches of water. &&
