Pedestrian Stop of Probationer Leads to Gun and Drug Charges

Berkeley Police arrested a man in downtown on Wednesday for a series of weapons and narcotics violations.

The 7:06am arrest on May 23 came after an officer, who knew the individual’s narcotics history, conducted a search based on his probation status.

The officer also discovered a loaded revolver, two methamphetamine pipes and an identification not belonging to him.

Lamon Johnson, 54, of Berkeley, was arrested for being a felon in possession of a loaded and concealed firearm, misappropriation of found property, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana for sales, possession of cocaine and heroin, possession of firearm while also possessing drugs and a probation violation.

Before entering the Jail, Johnson was searched again and found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine. In addition to the charges above he was booked for possession of methamphetamine.
