Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that police located a 49-year old unresponsive man inside the restroom of Starbucks located at 687 Broad Street last night.

Shortly after 10 p.m., police responded to the coffee shop on a call of a sick and injured person. Employees reported that a man had entered the restroom and did not exit nor respond to employees’ calls concerning his wellbeing. The officers, along with members of EMS, discovered the man inside the bathroom, but were unable to resuscitate him. The man was pronounced dead at 10:19 p.m.

This incident remains under investigation. No further information is available.
