The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

May 21st

0724 Hours: Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 60-year-old transient male for possession of drug paraphernalia at the homeless encampment under Highway 84. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

0806 Hours: Officer D. Johnson contacted and arrested a 46-year-old Fremont male for possession of a controlled substance for sales near the railroad tracks under the highway 84 overpass. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0910 Hours: Community Service Officer Parks documented an out of state identity theft case. The victim’s information was used to open an account that went to collections.

1629 Hours: Officer Hunter investigated a two vehicle injury accident on Locust Street at Thornton Avenue. The injured party was transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

1828 Hours: Officer Piquette investigated a late reported hit-and-run collision that occurred near the intersection of Fair Avenue at Newark Boulevard.

2230 Hours: Officer Hunter investigated the theft of a license plate off a vehicle on the 36800 block of Sycamore Street.
