Crime Alert Bulletin

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

There were not too many notable cases this past week—only two cases are worth mentioning.

On Saturday, 05-12-18 at 12:38 a.m., a 33-year old Daly City resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and hit and run after being involved in a hit and run collision at the intersection of San Pedro Road and Washington Street. The subject fled on foot because he said he didn’t want to lose his job.

On Saturday, 05-12-18 at 11:56 a.m., Officer Mahan was dispatched to the unit block of Poncetta Drive on the report of a fire in the courtyard located in the center of an apartment building. The fire department investigated and believed the fire was set intentionally on a piece of cardboard between wood boards.

Robberies

There was one robbery during the past week.

On Tuesday, 05-08-18 at approximately 12:54 a.m., officers were dispatched to Junipero Serra Boulevard and Citrus Avenue on a just occurred robbery. The 20-year old victim from Daly City said he was walking home from the Daly City BART station, and as he crossed the street on Junipero Serra Boulevard near Citrus Avenue, he said a dark blue Jeep four door SUV stopped next to him. The victim said a subject asked him in Spanish if he was a gang member, and the victim said he was heading home. The victim said the front passenger and rear passenger exited the vehicle and approached him. The victim said the front passenger had a black knife with a blade exposed and punched the victim twice in the mouth. The victim said the suspect used his left hand and reached into his pants pocket and took $50 in cash and a portable speaker. The victim said the second suspect stood there without talking. The victim said both of the suspects got back into the vehicle and drove away from the area. The victim described the first suspect as an unknown Hispanic male, 25 years old, 5’5”, tall, thin build, light complexion, long black curly hair, wearing a blue and black hat, black jacket, and blue jeans. The victim described the second suspect as a Hispanic male, 25 years old, 5’6”, average build, light complexion, black hair, wearing a black hat and black jacket.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up, and I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t actually live there. Please note: the City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
