The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

May 16th

0617 Hours: Officer San Pedro investigated a vehicle vandalism case on the 36600 block of Leon Street. The investigation is ongoing.

0923 Hours: Community Service Officer Verandes seized the license plates off a vehicle for false registration on Robertson Avenue at Guava Drive. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

1536 Hours: Sgt. Eriksen investigated an auto burglary at NewPark Mall. There was no loss. The victim had taken their valuables into the mall with them.

1801 Hours: Officer Losier responded to a disturbance on the 36200 block of La Salle Drive. A 39-year-old Newark male was arrested for his outstanding warrant and was subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.

1858 Hours: Officer Damewood and Field Training Officer Smith investigated an embezzled rental vehicle from a resident on the 6100 block of Thornton Avenue. The victim had listed their vehicle for rent on a web app. The suspect, a 24-year-old Vallejo female rented the car and failed to return it.

0113 Hours: Officer Palacio responded to a disturbance on the 8300 block of Juniper Avenue where he encountered a heavily intoxicated 57-year-old Newark male. The suspect was deemed too intoxicated to care for himself and was transported to the Santa Rita Jail.
