Sunday, May 6, 2018
Theft
Location: 3500 Block of Homestead Road

An unknown male suspect stole a victim’s purse out of a shopping cart and ran out of a store on the 3500 block of Homestead Road. The suspect remains at large. The total value of the stolen items was approximately $5,100.
The victim’s credit cards were subsequently used at three stores. This investigation is ongoing.

Monday, May 7, 2018
Robbery
Location: 3900 Block of Rivermark Parkway

A victim reported being attacked by four unknown juveniles the previous day (5/6/18 at approximately 2210 hours). During the assault, several personal items were stolen valued at approximately $1,220. The victim had complaints of pain but denied medical attention. This investigation is ongoing.

Tuesday, May 8, 2018
Hit and Run – Major Injury
Location: Duane Avenue near Kenneth Street

On Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at about 7:18am, a hit and run occurred on Duane Avenue near Kenneth Street. The male victim had just stepped out of his parked vehicle when he was struck by a Chevy Trailblazer traveling eastbound on Duane Avenue. The impact left the victim with major injuries. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The suspect vehicle fled the scene.
Later in the morning, the driver of the suspect vehicle turned herself in at the Santa Clara Police Department. Angelica Rodriguez, date of birth March 7, 1968, was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on a charge of 20001 VC – Hit and Run resulting in injury. Rodriguez is a resident of Alviso.

Hoax Kidnapping
Location: 2500 Block of Cabrillo Avenue

A resident received two suspicious cell phone calls. The unidentified male caller stated the resident’s 14-year-old son had been kidnapped. The resident could hear a person screaming for help in the background. The callers did not make any demands, extortion, financial or otherwise.
The resident called Public Safety Dispatchers and immediately drove to Cabrillo Middle School. The resident’s son was in class and unaware of the calls to his parent.
No suspects have been identified or apprehended.

Thursday, May 10, 2018
Warrant Arrest
Location: 3400 Block of El Camino Real

An officer was patrolling a parking lot of a motel on the 3400 block of El Camino Real when a stolen vehicle was discovered. The suspect vehicle left the parking lot and the officer was unable to locate the vehicle in commute traffic.
The officer developed information about the stolen vehicle and the female motel guest the vehicle was associated with. A Records check on the suspect yielded two outstanding warrants.
At approximately 2124 hours, the suspect returned to the motel and was arrested without incident.

Vehicle Burglary Arrest
Kiely Blvd and Homestead Road

An officer observed a vehicle traveling in darkness without its headlights illuminated. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on the 2700 block of Homestead Road. The male driver immediately exited the vehicle, asked if there was a problem and stated he had just gotten off work.
A Records check revealed the subject had a suspended driver’s license except in the course of employment and two active grants of probation with search and seizure as part of the terms.
A search of his vehicle yielded a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and numerous items that did not belong to the subject, including wallets and credit cards for approximately 10 people. The subject was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Saturday, May 12, 2018
Assault
Location: 3300 Block of Cecil Avenue

Public Safety Dispatchers received a call regarding a domestic dispute on the 3300 block of Cecil Avenue. The armored rescue vehicle was summoned to the scene. The suspect exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.
