The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
May 15th
0747 Hours: Officer Cervantes investigated an auto burglary on 5700 block of Stevenson Avenue. The loss is a laptop computer, iPad and keys.
1315 Hours: Officer Rivas contacted and arrested a 42-year-old Union City male for being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance during a traffic stop on Newark Boulevard at Civic Terrace. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
1618 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated a hit and run accident on Smith Street at Bellflower Drive.
2118 Hours: Officer Hunter contacted and arrested a 50-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrants on the 38100 block of Woodruff Drive. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
0530 Hours: Officer Palacio investigated an auto burglary at the EZ8 Motel, 5555 Cedar Court. The loss is a laser and speakers.
