The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

May 10h

1110 Hours: Officer San Pedro responded to a report of utility lines down on Cherry Street at Clark Avenue. R.A.V.E.N. volunteers responded to provide traffic control until the lines could be safely moved from the roadway. The road was opened to traffic at 1229 Hours.

1110 Hours: Officer Allum investigated two solo-vehicle, non-injury, collisions that temporarily closed Thornton Avenue and Cherry Street.

1841 Hours: Officer Herbert investigated an auto burglary on the 4900 block of Wingate Place. The loss is miscellaneous tools.

2219 Hours: Officer Rivera contacted and arrested a 52-year-old transient female for possession of drug paraphernalia on the 6000 block of Amador Place. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

May 11th

1135 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated an auto burglary on the 5400 block of Thornton Avenue. The loss is miscellaneous tools.

1718 hours: Officer Herbert responded to a disturbance on the 37900 block of Cedar Boulevard. A 50-year-old transient male was contacted and arrested for trespassing and battery. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0312 Hours: Officers responded to the 6000 block of Lafayette Avenue on a report of a hit and run accident. Officer Taylor located the suspect vehicle on Jonathan Drive. The driver, a 31-year-old transient male was arrested for hit and run, driving under the influence, battery on a Peace Officer and obstructing a Police Officer. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0431 Hours: Officer D. Johnson responded to a report of a subject sleeping on a door step on the 37100 block of San Antonio Street. A 25-year-old San Leandro male was contacted and arrested for disorderly conduct / being under the influence of alcohol and subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.

May 12th

1620 Hours: Officer Pacheco investigated an auto burglary at the AMC Theater, NewPark Mall. The loss is a purse and credit cards.

1526 Hours: Officer Horst responded to Kingdom Hall, 6536 Thornton Avenue on a report of a box of costume jewelry and credit cards that was found in the dumpster. Officer Horst as able to locate the owner and determined that she had been a victim of a residential burglary on the 4500 block of Thornton Avenue in Fremont.

2027 Hours: Officer Piquette investigated the theft of a green 1999 Honda Civic (CA license #4EEE387) on the 6300 block of Jarvis Avenue.

May 13th

0307 Hours: Officer Piquette investigated a vandalism incident on the 5400 block of Milani Avenue.

0650 Hours: Officer Jackman and Officer Germano conducted a security check of the transient camp on Thornton Avenue at I-880. A 44-year-old transient male was contacted and arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

1527 Hours: Officers Jackman, Mapes and Germano conducted a probation search on the 6100 block of Robertson Avenue. A 30-year-old Hayward female was arrested for her outstanding warrants and subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.

1819 Hours: Officer Arroyo investigated a two vehicle auto accident on the 37200 block of Ash Street.
