On May 13, 2018, at 10:27 am, Forest City Police Officers were called to Rutherford Regional Hospital to investigate a possible sexual assault that was to have occurred in the early morning hours of May 13 in Forest City. According to the victim, he was sexually assaulted by the use and/or threat of the use of a firearm, at a location on Hill Street in Forest City and by a subject known to the victim. The victim was admitted to and remains at Rutherford Regional as a result of his injuries received during the assault.
Forest City Police Detectives were called in to investigate the incident. Detectives collected evidence associated with the assault as a result of search warrants being served to include the Hill Street location. On May 13, Rahkim Tashiem Franklin, age 24, of Hill Street, Forest City, NC, was arrested for three (3) counts of First Degree Sex Offense, Kidnapping, Assault by Pointing a Gun, three (3) counts of Crimes Against Nature, Simple Assault and Communications of Threats. Franklin remains in custody ate the jail of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department under a $700,000 bond.
