...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT THURSDAY BETWEEN 3 PM AND 7 PM FOR THE EASTERN PLAINS...NORTHEAST AND NORTHWEST HIGHLANDS DUE TO STRONG WINDS...LOW HUMIDITY AND AN UNSTABLE AIRMASS... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT LATE FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING AREA WIDE DUE TO STRONG WINDS...LOW HUMIDITY AND AN UNSTABLE AIRMASS... .Deep surface low pressure in southeast Colorado, increasing winds aloft and deep mixing on Thursday will cause west to southwest winds to increase during the afternoon and early evening across the Northwest and Northeast Highlands as well as the Eastern Plains. These winds in combination with high Haines indices, single digit relative humidity values and near record high temperatures will create critical fire weather conditions. Winds will increase further on Friday with very low humidity and high Haines indices persisting. Critical fire weather conditions are likely to develop area wide. ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM TO 7 PM MDT THURSDAY... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING... The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag Warning...which is in effect from 3 PM to 7 PM MDT Thursday. A Fire Weather Watch has also been issued. This Fire Weather Watch is in effect from Friday morning through Friday evening.
* AREA AND TIMING...This includes the Northeast Highlands from mid afternoon through early evening Thursday, and from late morning through mid evening on Friday.
* 20 FOOT WINDS...West to southwest at 20 to 25 mph with gusts near 30 mph on Thursday, and west to southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts near 45 to 50 mph on Friday.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Falling between 5 and 10 percent both Thursday and Friday.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
* AFFECTED AREAS: NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS
