Hockley County Sheriff's Office calls for service and activities for Friday, 5/4/18, through Sunday, 5/6/18.

Good Monday afternoon! The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office for Friday, 5/4/18, through Sunday, 5/6/18.

5/4/18

-Hwy 114 at FM 168, Smyer: Assist Motorist. A deputy patrolling in the area observed a vehicle pulling along the roadway with an apparent mechanical issue. The deputy stopped to check on the driver, who advised the truck had an issue and help was coming.

-Hwy 114 at FM 2378, Smyer: Criminal Mischief. A deputy was dispatched to the area south of the highway related to damage to the property. The complainant did not wish to file a report, but requested a close patrol for the area. Information was logged and forwarded to all shifts.

-1600 blk Ironman Rd, Levelland: Disturbance. A deputy responded to a reported verbal disturbance at a residence. One party left prior to arrival of deputies. The incident was reported as verbal only and no offenses were reported.

-100 blk Industrial, Levelland: Alarm. A deputy was notified of an alarm at a business in the area. The location was checked and found to be secured.

-6500 blk Oxen Rd, Ropesville: Suspicious Activity. A deputy responded to a report of an individual hiding under a vehicle on the property. The area was checked and no one was located.

-100 blk Crestview, Levelland: Disturbance. A deputy was dispatched to a residence related to a domestic disturbance. Parties left the area prior to arrival, however, one party was located at a residence in Opdyke. The individual was placed under arrest for an active warrant and transported to the jail. Additional complaints are under investigation related to the incident.

-Hwy 114 at Barton Ln, Opdyke West: Intoxicated Person. Deputies responded to a report of a possible intoxicated person along Hwy 114. The individual was located and was later arrested for Public Intoxication. The individual was transported to the jail without incident and released to detention center personnel.

-Hwy 114 at FM 2378, Smyer: Assist Other Agency. A deputy responded to assist Ropesville ISD Police related to a traffic contact in the area. The driver was issued multiple citations and released to another driver. Misdemeanor charges may be pending.

-2400 blk Cardinal Ln, Levelland: Shots Fired. Deputies were dispatched to the area related to gun shots being fired. The complainant reported a projectile caused damage to his residence, but did not want to have any criminal charges filed related to the incident. Information for a report was collected, and the repot is pending.

-1000 blk Alamo Rd, Levelland: Suspicious Person. A deputy was dispatched to the area to locate a suspicious person walking around vehicles and residences. The female was located in a vehicle, and another male subject was present. Both were identified and released to another party.

5/5/18

-FM 1294 at FM 2646, Levelland: Check Welfare. A deputy stopped and contacted an individual in a vehicle parked along the roadway. The driver advised he pulled over to talk on the phone.

-1900 blk Cactus, Levelland: Suspicious Person. A deputy responded to the area after receiving a report of a suspicious person. The area was checked and no one was located.

-6600 blk East Ellis, Smyer: Alarm. A deputy responded to an alarm in the area. The property was checked and found to be secure.

-100 blk Commerce, Levelland: Burglary. A deputy met with a complainant about a burglary offense at a business. Information for a report was taken and the incident is under investigation.

-2700 blk Belvedere Rd, Levelland: Traffic Complaint. A deputy responded to the area related to a complaint of motorcycles on the roadway without lights. The riders were contacted, identified, and informed about the laws related to operating on the roadway.

-Hwy 114 at Cedar, Levelland: Reckless Driver. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a reckless driver complaint. The area was checked and no vehicle matching the description was located.

-Hwy 114 at Hummingbird Rd, Levelland: Disabled Vehicle. A deputy stopped to check on a vehicle stopped along the highway. The driver indicated the vehicle had mechanical issues and a tow truck was on the way. There was no roadway obstruction.

-100 blk Industrial, Levelland: Alarm. Deputies responded to several alarm calls at a business in the area. While en route, the alarms were cancelled.

-1700 blk Owl Rd, Smyer: Disturbance. Deputies were dispatched to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence in the area. While speaking with parties it was reported the disturbance was verbal only. Individuals were identified and released. No offenses were reported.

-100 blk Barton Ln, Levelland: Criminal Mischief. A deputy met with a complainant regarding damage done to the windshield of a vehicle. Information for a report was taken after it was reported an unknown individual threw a rock at the vehicle and damaged the glass.

-Hwy 114 at Lincoln Rd, Levelland: Abandoned Vehicle. A deputy stopped and checked on a vehicle parked along the roadway on the shoulder. The vehicle was not reported stolen and was tagged with a 72 hour tow notice.

-Douglas and Sherman, Levelland: Assist Levelland PD. Deputies responded to assist with locating a subject in the area who fled on foot. A perimeter was set and Levelland PD handled the scene.

5/6/18

-6800 blk Hwy 114, Smyer: Emergency Detention. A deputy responded to a report of an individual needing assistance. The individual was transported to an area hospital for evaluation, and was later transported to a facility where the individual received services.

-4200 blk Kite Rd, Ropesville: Burglary. A deputy was notified of an attempted break-in at a residence. The owner wanted the area on close patrol, and the information was logged and forwarded to all shifts.

-FM 168 south of Hwy 114, Smyer: Traffic Complaint. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a complaint of individuals riding ATVs on the roadway. The area was checked and the vehicles were not located.

-US 62/82 at FM 41, Ropesville: Traffic Complaint. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a report of an individual driving on the wrong side of the roadway. The vehicle had passed into another county prior to arrival, and the information was passed to other counties.

-2900 blk Hwy 385, Levelland: Illegal Burn. A deputy responded with the fire department to the area related to a burn in violation of the current burn ban. It was explained the current ban was in effect and a warning was given. Fire Department extinguished the fire.

-700 blk Moreno, Anton: Shots Fired. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a possible shots fired call. It was later reported to be fireworks in the area. The area was checked and nothing was located. No additional calls were received.

-US 62/82 at FM 41, Ropesville: Reckless Driver. A deputy responded to attempt to locate a reckless drier traveling north on the highway leaving Terry County. The highway was checked from the Terry County line to the Lubbock County line and no vehicle matching the description was located. Information was relayed to Lubbock County.

-100 blk Mandy Circle, Opdyke West: Suspicious Vehicle. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate a suspicious vehicle in the area. All areas were checked and the vehicle was not located.

-100 blk Mandy Circle, Opdyke West: Suspicious Vehicle. A deputy was dispatched back to the area related to a different suspicious vehicle. The area was checked and no vehicle matching the description was located.

Deputies also conducted patrols in all areas of the county, close patrols/vacation watches, and investigative follow-up activities.
