Advisory

Lancaster Sheriff’s Station has named Deputy Joshua Bean as the Deputy of the Year and Deputy Armando Lopez as the Hero of the Year!

On Friday May 4th, 2018 at the annual Law Appreciation Day luncheon hosted by the Antelope Valley Bar Association together with the AV Fair & Event Center, Antelope Valley Sheriff’s Boosters, California Highway Patrol Senior Volunteers, Friends of the Antelope Valley Fair, and Palmdale Sheriff’s Boosters, Deputy Joshua Bean was named Lancaster Station’s Deputy of the Year for 2018. Deputy Bean joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in March of 2013. He was assigned to Pitchess Detention Center where he worked Custody Operations for just over four years before beginning patrol in October of 2013. He was quickly promoted to a Field Training Officer in 2015 due to his excellent work ethic and his proactive police work.  He has trained newly assigned patrol deputies for the last three years.  Deputy Bean was recently assigned to work as a member of the Lancaster Station Robbery Suppression Team because of his work ethic and abilities. Because of his ability to communicate with others so effectively, he was also chosen to be a member of the Sheriff’s Department Crisis and Hostage Negotiation Team where he completed the FBI Hostage Negotiation Certification course. Deputy Bean stated he attributes his accomplishments and success to the support of his family and the teamwork of all those he works with on a daily basis.

A few days later, on Sunday May 6th, 2018 at the First Responders Appreciation Day hosted by Lancaster Baptist Church, Deputy Armando Lopez was named the recipient of the Fallen Heroes Award, in memory of Sergeant Steve Owen and Deputy Steven Sorensen. Deputy Lopez was hired by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in March of 2012. He was assigned to North County Correctional Facility where he worked Custody Operations for two years before beginning his patrol career in August of 2014.  Deputy Lopez was assigned to Lancaster Sheriff’s Station where he completed his patrol training, and was then assigned as both a crime and traffic deputy for three years.  Due to his knowledge or patrol operations, professionalism, and work ethic, Deputy Lopez was assigned to the LANCAP (Lancaster Community Appreciation Program) Team, where he excelled in drug related arrests and investigations.  Deputy Lopez was awarded the “417 Ace” award for his achievement in the recovery of illegal firearms during 2017.  Although busy with his career and family life, Deputy Lopez volunteers for the station’s Baker to Vegas Team and credits his accomplishments to the support of his LANCAP team partners and his family.

Please join us in congratulating these two incredible deputies! Lancaster Sheriff’s Station is thankful to Deputies Bean and Lopez, whom have both dedicated themselves to making our community a safe place to live.

Lancaster Sheriff’s Station police the City of Lancaster, Antelope Valley College, and the unincorporated communities of Antelope Acres, Lake Los Angeles, and Quartz Hill, in the Antelope Valley.
