The National Weather Service in Charleston West Virginia has extended the

* Flood Warning for Urban Areas and Small Streams in... West central Nicholas County in southeastern West Virginia... Kanawha County in central West Virginia... Central Putnam County in western West Virginia... Northeastern Lincoln County in central West Virginia... Southwestern Roane County in central West Virginia... Southeastern Jackson County in northwestern West Virginia... Southwestern Clay County in north central West Virginia... Northwestern Fayette County in southeastern West Virginia... Northwestern Boone County in central West Virginia...

* Until 530 PM EDT

* At 202 PM EDT, trained weather spotters and local emergency management reported heavy rain in northern and eastern Kanawha County that has caused flooding. Flooding has been reported in the areas of Sissonville, Cooper`s Creek, and Alum Creek.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Charleston, Clay, Jefferson, South Charleston, Dunbar, Sissonville, Montgomery, Chesapeake, Marmet, Belle, Clendenin, Cedar Grove, East Bank, Glasgow, Smithers, Gauley Bridge, Pratt, Pinch, Glen and Coal Fork.

* AFFECTED AREAS: BOONE ... CLAY ... FAYETTE ... JACKSON ... KANAWHA ... LINCOLN ... NICHOLAS ... PUTNAM ... ROANE

Instructions:

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Please report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely. You may also report flooding by posting your report to the Charleston West Virginia National Weather Service Facebook Page, or by using the Twitter Hashtag, NWSRLX.
