On Thursday, January 11th the police department took a burglary report at the VFW Post 7980, on Veterans Drive, in which a room had been broken into and money stolen. The Illinois State Police responded the following day to process the crime scene. After a thorough and complete investigation, which included multiple interviews, the report was forwarded to the St. Clair State's Attorney's Office. On April 3rd, the state’s attorney’s office charged William C. Kramer, 32 of New Athens, with Burglary, a Class 2 Criminal Felony & Theft, a Class 3 Criminal Felony. His bond was set at $50,000. He remained at-large till April 30th, when he surrendered himself at the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department. The New Athens Police Department assisted in this case.
