The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

May 1st

0615 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance at the Residence Inn, 35466 Dumbarton Court. A 36-year-old transient female was contacted and arrested for identity theft and subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0728 Hours: Officer Allum investigated an injury auto accident on Smith Avenue at Manzanita Street. The injured party was transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

0744 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance on the 6200 block of Mayhews Landing Road. A 46-year-old Newark male was contacted and arrested for violation of a restraining order and subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0806 Hours: Officer San Pedro investigated a vehicle vandalism case on the 6300 block of Joaquin Murietta Avenue.

2107 Hours: Officer Damewood and Field Training Officer Smith investigated a vehicle burglary on the 36400 block of Ruschin Drive. The loss is the car stereo.

2220 Hours: Officer Hunter investigated an auto burglary on the 5400 block of McDonald Avenue. The loss is the car stereo.

0137 Hours: Officer Damewood and Field Training Officer Smith responded to a disturbance on the 35200 block of Preston Place. A 26-year-old Redwood City female was contacted and arrested for public intoxication. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0057 Hours: Officer Hunter contacted and arrested a 26-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrants on the 5700 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.
