Volunteer Recognition and Pinning Ceremony @ STARS Center

On April 26, the Sheriff’s Department held their annual Volunteer Recognition and Pinning Ceremony at STARS Center in Whittier. This event recognizes Civilian Volunteers who have donated in excess of 5,000 hours, and those who have been nominated for the Helen Reardon Volunteer of the Year Recognition Award. Station Volunteers Don Carter and Dean LeCesne were both recognized for their hours, Don for 5,000 and Dean for 30,000 hours. Walnut Station Booster Club President Gil Rivera was our nominee for the Helen Reardon Award. Gil was nominated due to his countless hours working to keep the Booster Club financially secure and successful. Gil, along with the Booster Club Board of Directors, work tirelessly to ensure funding for our Disaster Communications Service, Explorer, Reserve Deputy, and Volunteer Programs training and equipment needs.
