The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

April 26th

0849 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated a copper theft at Schilling Elementary School, 36901 Spruce Street.

0952 Hours: Officer Wallace contacted and arrested a 41-year-old transient female for her outstanding warrant on Newark Boulevard at Hwy. 84. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1101 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 35-yerar-old Newark male for possession of drug paraphernalia on the 6100 block of Cotton Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1227 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 34-year-old Newark female for her outstanding warrants on the 37000 block of Saint Christopher Street. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1542 Hours: Officer Khairy investigated an auto burglary at Anytime Fitness, 6347 Jarvis Avenue. The loss is a laptop computer.

1629 Hours: Officer Wallace recovered a 1998 Honda Civic reported stolen out of Fremont on the 5700 block of Mowry Avenue. The vehicle was released to the registered owner.

April 27th

1437 Hours: Officer San Pedro investigated a grab and run theft of power tools from Home Depot, 5401 Thornton Avenue.

1625 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 56-year-old East Palo Alto male for his outstanding warrants on the 7100 block of Rich Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

1929 Hours: Officer Arroyo contacted and arrested a 48-year-old Newark male for driving under the influence on Dairy Avenue at Magnolia Street. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0020 Hours: Officer Rivera responded to a report of two subjects passed out inside a vehicle at the AMC Theater, NewPark Mall. The driver, a 22-year-old Newark male was arrested for disorderly conduct and being under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail. The passenger was released at the scene.

0107 Hours: While working the side show task force, Officer Rivas and Sergeant Sandoval attempted stop a modified street racer type vehicle on Interstate 880. With the help of the CHP, the driver yielded to the traffic stop on 880 near Montague Expressway. The driver, a 53-year-old San Jose male was arrested for his outstanding warrants, evading arrest and for giving false information to a Police Officer. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

0208 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 29-year-old Newark male for driving under the influence on Stevenson Boulevard at 880. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

April 28th

0721 hours: Officer D. Johnson investigated an auto burglary at the Comfort Inn, 5977 Mowry Avenue. The loss is miscellaneous tools.

1525 hours: Officers responded to a road rage incident on the 35200 block of Newark Boulevard. Officers discovered that one driver had popped the tires of the other driver’s vehicle. The suspect, a 46-year-old Richmond male was issued a citation for vandalism and released at the scene.

1755 Hours: Officer Arroyo investigated the theft of a tile saw on the 36800 block of Burdick Street. The investigation is ongoing.

2051 Hours: Officer Piquette responded to a disturbance on the 38800 block of Myrsine Place. A 19-year-old Vacaville female was contacted and issued a citation for her outstanding warrant. The suspect was released at the scene and she left the area.

2344 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance at Oasis Fitness, 35145 Newark Boulevard. A 25-year-old male and a 21-year-old male, both from Oakland were arrested for fighting in public, obstructing a Police Officer and battery on a Police Officer. Both suspects were booked into the Fremont Jail.

April 29th

0252 Hours: Officer Piquette investigated a non-injury solo vehicle accident on Stevenson Boulevard at Cherry Street.

0531 Hours: Officer Slavazza investigated a hit and run accident on the 6200 block of Brittany Avenue.

1355 Hours: Officer Mapes investigated a vehicle burglary on the 5300 block of Chapman Drive. The loss is miscellaneous tools.

1408 Hours: Officer Jackman investigated a vehicle burglary at Oasis Fitness, 35145 Newark Boulevard. The loss is a backpack containing a laptop and a suitcase containing shoes.

2306 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 60-year-old transient male for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and probation violation on the 5800 block of Jarvis Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
