POSSESSION OF BURGLARY TOOLS AND WARRANT ARREST

On April 24, 2018, at approximately 3:19 A. M., an AGPD Officer was on patrol in the 1200 block of Ash St., when he observed a male subject riding a bicycle. Multiple vehicle burglaries and thefts from unlocked vehicles were recently reported in this same area. The Officer initiated a traffic stop on the bicycle for vehicle code violations of riding on the wrong side of the road and having inadequate lighting during hours of darkness.

Upon contacting the subject, later identified as Robert Galarza, 23 year old, from Grover Beach, CA, the AGPD Officer immediately noted Galarza was wearing dark clothing, a ski type mask and latex gloves on his hands. Upon conducting a consent search of the large backpack Galarza was carrying, the AGPD Officer located numerous tools; including window punches, bolt cutters, an inflatable wedge, and other tools consistent with those used to commit vehicle and/or residential burglaries. Based on the above circumstances, the AGPD Officer believed it was likely Galarza had already, or was about to commit vehicle burglaries in the area.

Galarza was taken into custody and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail for 466PC – Possession of Burglary Tools and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
