On April 25, 2018 at 11:51 PM, an officer with the Middleton Police Department observed a vehicle that was traveling left of the center line on Terrace Avenue for approximately one block. The vehicle also failed to stop at a stop sign.

The driver was identified as Sam W. Utke, 38, of Seymour, Wisconsin. After contacting Utke, the officer noted a moderate odor of intoxicants and his speech was slurred. Following field sobriety testing, Utke was arrested for 4th offense Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated, a felony.

Utke refused to provide a blood sample, so a search warrant was obtained. That sample will be sent to the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory for analysis.

Utke was booked into the Dane County Jail on the tentative charge of 4th offense OWI. He was also ticketed for operating left of the center line.
