The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

April 22nd

0642 Hours: Officers contacted and arrested a 61-year-old transient male for his outstanding warrant during a security check of the homeless encampment on Ardenwood Boulevard at the railroad tracks. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0824 Hours: Officers Jackman and Pacheco contacted and arrested a 44-year-old transient male for possession of drug paraphernalia while conducting a security check on Thornton Avenue at I-880. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

0846 Hours: Officers Pacheco and Jackman contacted and arrested a 52-year-old Newark male for possession of drug paraphernalia while conducting a probation search on the 6300 block of Rockrose Drive. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1525 Hours: Officer Jackman investigated the theft of a gold 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix (CA license #8DBY248) on the 6300 block of Zulmida Avenue.

April 23rd

0710 Hours: Officer Allum investigated a non-injury auto vs. motorcycle collision on Thornton Avenue at I-880.

0934 Hours: Officer D. Johnson investigated a theft from an unlocked vehicle on the 37300 block of Wedgewood Street.

1118 Hours: Officer Nobbe investigated a vehicle vandalism incident on the 6300 block of Baine Avenue. The investigation is ongoing.

1822 Hours: Officers Jackman and D. Johnson contacted and arrested a 51-year-old Newark female for her outstanding warrant and possession of drug paraphernalia on the 6000 block of Amador Place. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1951 Hours: Officer Hunter contacted and arrested a 45-year-old Newark female for her outstanding warrant on the 7800 block of Hermitage Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0219 Hours: Officer Damewood and Field Training Officer Smith contacted and arrested a 22-year-old Hayward female for her outstanding warrants on the 5500 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
