Corona Creek Elementary School 6th Grade Class graduates from the Petaluma Police Department D.A.R.E. Program

The Petaluma Police Department is proud to announce the newest graduates from the DARE Program. DARE Instructor, Officer Zeus Rivera hosted the graduation ceremony on 4/20/18 at 1:45pm at Corona Creek Elementary School. There were 57 students in Ms. Beckman and Mr. Steves 6th grade classes. Students completed a 10 week curriculum on drug abuse resistance education that culminated with a graduation certificate presented by Lieutenant Edward Crosby.

In 2007, the DARE Program was staffed full-time by police officers who instructed the curriculum to most elementary schools in Petaluma. The DARE Program was eliminated due to staffing reductions in the Police Department in 2008. Thanks to private donations from the McDowell Drug Task Force, the North Bay Chapter of Realtors, Mentor Me, and Petaluma Parents against Drugs, the DARE Program has returned with officers working on their days off to teach classes.

The Petaluma Police Department wishes to thank and acknowledge Corona Creek Elementary School Principal Rebecca Rosales for allowing the DARE Program into the school. We would also like to thank the DARE donors for providing the funding to make this program possible.
