Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash

On April 19, 2018 at approximately 6:08 p.m., officers from the Township of Hamilton Police Department responded to the Black Horse Pike (westbound) in the area of the Hamilton Mall for the report of a motor vehicle crash. The investigation revealed that John Laverack (43/M) of Morrestown, was operating a 2002 Yamaha motorcycle, traveling westbound on Rt. 322. As Laverack approached the left turn lanes to the Festival Mall, he failed to stop and struck the rear of a 2002 Chevy Tracker operated by Nancy Saumsiegle (68/F) of Egg Harbor Township, and a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder operated by Byron Simpson (56/M) of Mays Landing. Both vehicles were stopped at the red light in the left turn lanes.

Laverack was transported to AtlantiCare (Mainland) were he died as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash. No other injuries were reported.

Assisting at the scene were the Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad, AltantiCare Paramedics and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office. The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who has information is asked to contact Det. Robison at 609-625-2700 x 578.
