Juvenile Human Trafficking Victim Rescued by Major Crimes Task Force

SUSPECT:                Nathan DEAM, 41, Apple Valley Resident

SUSEPCT VEHICLE:         Red 2000 Ford Expedition

UNIT:                         Pomona Police Department – Major Crimes Task Force

NARRATIVE:
On Wednesday, April 18, 2018 the PPD Major Crimes Task Force conducted a vice operation focused on the area known as the Holt Corridor. The operation used plainclothes officers who conducted surveillance along the Holt Corridor. During the course of the operation officers encountered and rescued a 17 year old victim of human trafficking. Record checks revealed the victim to have been previously reported missing from Las Vegas, Nevada. The victim was interviewed and appropriate resources were activated to provide assistance to the victim.
 
The victim was contacted with Nathan DEAM. The investigation revealed DEAM had solicited the victim on Holt Ave. DEAM was arrested for 647(b) PC – Prostitution.
 
This investigation is ongoing. MCTF is attempting to identify the human trafficker (pimp).
 
The Pomona Police Department takes a zero tolerance approach to human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
 
The operation was conducted in response to numerous complaints received from residents and local business owners. The Pomona Police Department is taking a proactive approach to improving the quality of life by addressing and deterring human trafficking and prostitution activities along the Holt Ave corridor.
