The Newark Police Department extends their gratitude to the R.A.V.E.N. (Ready and Active Volunteers Engaged in Newark), Police Reserves and the Police Explorers for their many hours of volunteerism. In 2017 our volunteers donated in excess of 7,600 hours to the Department. Our R.A.V.E.N. volunteers patrol the streets to act as extra “Eyes and Ears” and help keep our community safe. In addition, they perform vacation home checks while our citizens are away, they are On-Call for natural disasters helping our officers with traffic control, assist in the Records Department, Graffiti Abatement and many other aspects of support work for the department. R.A.V.E.N. volunteers, Police Reservist and the Police Explorers are always on hand to assist at special events throughout the city, Newark Days and National Night Out to answer questions and address citizen concerns. Newark Police Department salutes and thanks our volunteers for their generous support.
