Winter Storm Evelyn helped catch drunk drivers & GBPD Response

“On behalf of the entire Police Department, I want to extend our appreciation and gratitude to all the Department of Public Works staff and especially the snowplow drivers that spent countless hours clearing our streets and making our job easier,” said Green Bay Police Chief Andrew Smith. “Without there tireless efforts, we wouldn’t have been able to do our job. Thank you!”

As winter storm Evelyn progressed, our officers braved the elements to respond to calls, help stranded motorists, and investigate car crashes. To highlight the great work officers did from Friday the 13th at 6:00 PM to Monday the 16th at 6:00 AM, Officers responded to:
• 332 calls for service of which included:
o 154 assist motorists
o 17 accidents
o 25 welfare checks
o 19 disturbances
o A total of 16 arrests, (Four operating while intoxicated
(OWI) arrests)

Hopefully, this is the end to the winter weather for the season. However, this serves a good reminder to adhere to the travel advisories and to travel safe as this did not bode well for the intoxicated drivers that found themselves stuck in snowbank.
