The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

April 16th

0722 Hours: Officer D. Johnson investigated a stolen white 1991 Acura Integra (CA License #3NIX935) on the 39900 block of Parada Street.

0747 Hours: Officer Pacheco investigated a burglary on the 8500 block of Boardwalk Way. The loss is copper wire and construction tools.

1416 Hours: Officer Pacheco and Officer D. Johnson contacted and arrested a 30-year-old San Leandro male for his outstanding warrant on the 39600 block of Eureka Drive. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

1626 Hours: Officer D. Johnson investigated the theft of a black 2000 Honda Civic (CA License #4NGD267) on the 37400 block of Cherry Street.

1713 Hours: Officer Mapes observed a suspicious unoccupied vehicle parked on the 6300 block of Thornton Avenue. A check revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen. Officer Mapes maintained surveillance of the vehicle until other units arrived to set up containment. The suspect, a 44-year-old Hayward male entered the vehicle at which point the Officers moved in for the arrest. The suspect initially refused to exit the vehicle. After 30 minutes the suspect finally exited the vehicle and was arrested for receiving known stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and obstructing a Police Officer. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail. Thank you to the Fremont Police Department for this assistance on this arrest.
