The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

April 13th

0702 Hours: Officer Wallace contacted and arrested a 45-year-old Fremont male for his outstanding warrants during a pedestrian stop on Central Avenue at Cedar Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0830 Hours: Officer Wang investigated the theft of a white 1994 Honda Civic (CA license #6HIA586) on the 6400 block of Smith Avenue. The vehicle was recovered by Officer Wallace at 1137 Hours on the 7800 block of Thornton Avenue and released to the registered owner.

0947 Hours: Officer Fredstrom investigated an attempted vehicle theft on the 36400 block of Christine Street.

1236 Hours: Officer Fredstrom investigated a restraining order violation on the 37000 block of Magnolia Street. The case was sent to district attorney for follow-up.

2323 Hours: Officer Rivera responded to a single vehicle collision on the 5500 block of Souza Avenue. A 39-year-old Newark female was arrested for driving under the influence and subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.

April 14th

0624 Hours: Officer Jackman investigated the theft of a green 2018 Kia Sol (CA License #8AOR354) on the 7600 block of Aspen Place.

0942 Hours: Officer Pacheco investigated a vehicle vandalism case on the 6700 block of Baine Avenue.

2149 Hours: Officer Piquette investigated a shoplifting incident at FoodMax, 39966 Cedar Boulevard. The suspect was located and arrested a few blocks away from the store. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene. The stolen items were returned to the store.

April 15th

0657 Hours: Officer Nobbe contacted and arrested a 24-year-old Newark male for possession of drug paraphernalia on the 5400 block of Central Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1041 Hours: Officer Pacheco investigated a vehicle burglary on the 37000 block of Hill Street. The loss was an IPod, cell phone and miscellaneous items.

1605 Hours: Officer D. Johnson investigated a grab and run theft at JC Penny, NewPark Mall.
