War Monument in Traxler Park Damaged
Over the past several days officers from the patrol division conducted follow up on this incident. Through a series of efforts, they were able to identify who was involved. A citizen was able to lead officers to the involved parties. Officer Katzenmeyer tracked down all who were present at the time of the incident, and took statements.
The resulting investigation lead to the arrest of a juvenile for intentionally causing damage to the statute. The juvenile is being referred for a charge of Criminal Damage to Property, 943.01. The juveniles parents are aware of the incident and the referral. This case is closed at this time.

On 04-09-18 the Janesville Police Department took a report of damage to a monument at the Walk of Honor on the north side of Traxler Park. The rifle was broken off and left at the scene. The Janesville Police Department is attempting to determine how the monument was damaged.
