The Green Bay Police Department has been responding to a high volume of car accidents and stranded motorists through Saturday morning.

The Green Bay Police Department has been responding to a high volume of car accidents and stranded motorists through the day.

The City of Green Bay has implemented a SNOW EMERGENCY from 5 AM Saturday morning to 5 AM Monday morning. Parking on all Green Bay city streets is strictly prohibited during this time frame. Any vehicles left parked on city roadways during this period, risk being ticketed and towed at owner’s expense.

Additionally, a vehicular tow ban is being implemented for the Green Bay I43/I41 beltway located within the city limits. Green Bay officers will continue to respond to all emergencies and traffic crashes in these areas, but any vehicles found in ditches or off the main roadways will be left in those areas until weather conditions improve to allow for safer removal.

The National Weather Service is advising a second wave of additional heavy accumulating snow is expected for the Green Bay area later Saturday evening through the early morning hours of Monday April 16th, travel is not recommended during this time frame. Winds in excess of 55 MPH are being forecast for the surrounding Green Bay area making travel over the Leo Frigo Bridge strongly discouraged for all vehicular traffic; most notably high profile vehicles.

Lastly, city road crews are actively clearing roadways throughout the city. The Green Bay Police Department asks that you remain patient and aware of your surroundings. If you find it necessary to travel during these conditions please give plow crew’s room to work by staying at least 75 feet behind plows as they work to clear our city roadways over the upcoming days.
