ACPD Investigating Emailed Threats To Commit Violence At Local Schools

*****UPDATE*****
04/13/18

Last night, on 04/12, another threatening email, believed to originate from the same group responsible for the previous email, was received by local school officials. The police department is aware, and while we do not consider this a credible threat, as a precautionary measure there will be an increased police presence on our school campuses today.
###

It was determined that the email was sent to numerous counties in our area and originated from the Netherlands.

Although the email may have been a prank, the Angels Camp Police Department takes any threat to the safety of our school campuses and students seriously.

******UPDATE******

Correction: The individual that sent the threats DID NOT identify themselves as a Bret Harte student.

The source of the threats is still unknown. The email was sent to school officials in the Bret Harte and Calaveras school districts. No specific schools or dates were mentioned in the threat.

The Angels Camp Police Department will continue to work with the Calaveras Sheriff's Department to investigate the threats. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Angels Camp Police Department at (209) 736-2567 or the Calaveras Sheriff's Department at (209) 754-6500.
