...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITIES FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL AND WESTERN MARYLAND...THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA...NORTHERN AND CENTRAL VIRGINIA...AND EASTERN WEST VIRGINIA... The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a Red Flag Warning for strong winds and low relative humidities, which is in effect from noon today to 8 PM EDT this evening. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.
* HUMIDITY...20 to 30 percent.
* WINDS...Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
* FUEL MOISTURE...7 to 8 percent.
* IMPACTS...Gusty winds, low relative humidity and low fuel moistures may combine to create an environment conducive to the rapid spread of wildfires.
* AFFECTED AREAS: BERKELEY ... EASTERN GRANT ... EASTERN MINERAL ... EASTERN PENDLETON ... HAMPSHIRE ... HARDY ... JEFFERSON ... MORGAN ... WESTERN GRANT ... WESTERN PENDLETON
