Robbery Victim Injured by Possible Gunshot

On the morning of April 11, 2018, at approximately 5:50 am a local resident male approximately 35 years of age was approaching their car parked near the street in the area of Jefferson Street and Oregon Street. The victim was approached by a black male adult wearing a hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up over the suspects head.

The suspect immediately demanded the victim’s wallet while and cell. The victim was not able to identify the object as a gun initially due to the low light. As the victim handed over their cell phone to the suspect, the suspect began to get impatient. The suspect yelled that the victim was taking too long and began to wave a gun around. As the suspect was waving the gun, it went off with a single shot striking the victim on the shoulder.

The suspect fled the scene as the victim ran for assistance. The victim was able to call the police from a residence close by, and emergency medical assistance soon arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital suffering from a single gunshot injury that was determined to be non-life threatening. The victim was not able to provide any further description of the suspect.

Anyone that possibly witnessed this incident or has information that may help to identify the suspect is asked to contact the Fairfield Police Department. This is an active investigation and no further information is available at this time.
