Traffic stop leads to the arrest of Oakland City man on DUI charge.

On April 8, 2018, at 7:53 p.m. Deputy U.B. Smith stopped a White 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix in the 1100 block of West Morton Street for failing to maintain its lane of travel. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Smith detected the odor of alcohol coming from the driver 56 year old Patrick Krieg of Oakland City. At that point Deputy Smith called for assistance, and Deputy Austin Farrington arrived to conduct a roadside DUI investigation. At the conclusion of his roadside investigation Deputy Farrington placed Mr. Krieg into custody and transported him to the Gibson County Jail where he was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated (DUI). He remains in custody on a $450 bond.

Assisting Deputy Farrington in this arrest was Deputy U.B. Smith and Deputy Jennifer Loesch.

All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
