Officers investigated two reports of a male posing as a water utility employee

Today officers investigated two reports of a male posing as a water utility employee attempting to gain entry inside the houses. This occurred on Doblin St and Juniper St. A male suspect made contact with the residents, stating he worked for the Water Department, and needed to come inside to read the water meter. One victim allowed the suspect in. The suspect walked the victim down into the basement and then went back upstairs, telling the male to watch the meter. After the suspect was gone, the victim reported items being stolen from his house. The other complainant did not let the suspicious person inside the house. One victim described the person in his 50’s, wearing a tan jacket and possibly in a green truck. The other complainant reported that the suspect was in his 30’s, 5’6, medium build, blond hair, and wearing a yellow jacket.

This is a common ruse that we have seen over the years. It is likely that there are at least two people working together. Elderly victims home alone are often the target. Legitimate Water Department employees will have proper identification. Never hesitate to call the Water Department to verify or the police department if you feel there is a suspicious person or situation.

Those with information with this suspicious person are urged to contact the Green Bay Police at 920-448-3208. You can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward by contacting Green Bay Area Crime Stoppers by phone (920) 432-7867, through their website at www.432stop.com, or by downloading the P3 app through Google play or App store.
