On Saturday, March 31, 2018, at approximately 10:19 AM Turlock Police responded to a call from Merced County Sheriff who reported they had located a victim of a kidnapping that had originally occurred in Turlock.

On March 31, 2018, sometime after 1:00 AM, a 21 year old female victim was carjacked by force in the 200 block of W. Main Street by Rene Trujillo, male, 34 of Turlock, whom she did not know. Trujillo forced the victim to drive to several locations eventually stopping in an unpopulated area of Merced County. Trujillo then sexually assaulted her.

The victim fought back and escaped, running to a nearby house where they called law enforcement. Trujillo was seen getting into another vehicle passing by and that information was given to Merced County Sheriff’s Office, who located the vehicle and arrested Trujillo. The driver of that vehicle was uninvolved.

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries, was treated at an area hospital and released. Trujillo is currently in custody at Stanislaus County Jail on a $1,000,000 bail for Carjacking; Kidnapping with the Intent of Sexual Assault; Sexual Penetration; Attempt Oral Copulation; and Battery Causing Great Bodily Injury.
