Early Monday morning at approximately 1:15am, Patrol units were called to the Wawa Store at Route 27 and Cozzens Lane for a reported armed robbery. Upon their arrival, units learned that a male subject had walked in and began stealing several items from throughout the store. Once confronted by employees, the suspect brandished a handgun and continued to take additional items. The suspect left the store on foot, then firing at least two shots from the handgun outside during his escape. Officers and Detectives immediately began their investigation and developed a person of interest. Later that day, Mr. Cleon Jones Jr. (shown), 33, of Somerset, was arrested for this incident. During that arrest, a handgun was recovered. Jones has been charged with multiple crimes, including Robbery, Possession of a weapon, Possession of a weapon unlawful purpose, and theft. He has been remanded to the Middlesex County Department of Corrections pending Court. There were no injuries reported during this incident.
