FPD detectives honored at Solano County District Attorney's awards ceremony

This afternoon the Solano County District Attorney's office held its annual awards ceremony.  This year detectives from the Fairfield Police Department took home two of those awards for both the Case of the Year and the Officer of the Year.

In November 2015 Detectives Adam Brunie and Kathryn McCormick began an investigation into what was initially believed to be a domestic violence self-defense case.  Through the course of the investigation, detectives determined that the suspect's lack of action to seek medical attention for her husband, Tim Aldrich, is what ultimately lead to his death.  Carissa Aldrich was arrested and the case went to trial in 2017.  On June 30, 2017, a jury found Carissa Aldrich guilty of involuntary manslaughter.  This afternoon, District Attorney Abrams acknowledged the cooperation and dedication of our detectives, Deputy District Attorney Bruce Flynn the prosecutor on the case, and Cynthia Malloy the victim advocate who supported Tim's family through the court process, by presenting these four with the 2017 Case of the Year Award.

The Jim Capoot "Semper Fi" Officer of the Year award was given to Det. Chris Grimm.  District Attorney Abrams spoke of Det Grimm's dedication to his cases, his demeanor while working with victims, victim's families, as well as members of her staff, and his relentless pursuit of justice for his victims.  We at the Fairfield Police Department know how hard Det Grimm works to solve his cases and get justice for his victims, and we thank District Attorney Krishna Abrams for recognizing his dedication as well.

We are proud of the work our officers do on a daily basis and we thank the Solano County District Attorney's office for recognizing the dedication that they show throughout the year.
