Death of 75-year-old drag racer at Sonoma Raceway
Sheriff’s deputies investigated a death at Sonoma Raceway last night that occurred at about 6:00 PM. Deputies responded to the raceway and found that 75-year-old James Kenneth Rambo, 75 of Napa passed away after a racing accident.
Rambo had been drag racing his 1976 customized Ford Pinto in an organized contest. At the conclusion of the drag race, after he crossed the finish line, it appears he braked but his vehicle pulled to the left and he hit a k-rail at over 100 mph.
Lifesaving efforts were provided by an ambulance crew but Rambo died as a result of his injuries. Rambo’s family has been notified. Our sincere condolences go out to them and his friends.
