The Harris County Sheriff’s Office, in striving to keep the public trust and promote a professional, leading law enforcement agency, is scheduled for an on-site assessment of both the Law Enforcement and Communication Accreditation Units as part of a program to achieve re-accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards.

Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas; policy and procedures, management, operations and support services.

As part of this on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, beginning at 6:00 p.m. This session will be held at the Harris County Sheriff’s Academy located at 2316 Atascocita Rd, Humble, Texas 77396.

Agency employees and the public are also invited to offer comments by calling (713) 274-4927 on April 4, 2018, between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 pm, during which time comments will be taken by the Assessment Team.

Telephone comments as well as appearances at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with the Commission’s standards.
