GBPD Police Apprehend Hit-and-Run Driver That Caused Serious Injury Accident

At 12:37PM today, officers from the Green Bay Police Department responded to the area of W. Walnut St. and N. Oakland Ave. for a report of a hit-and-run accident involving an SUV and a bicyclist. The bicyclist received life threatening injuries and was rushed to the hospital. Officers located the run vehicle traveling on Velp Ave. and initiated a short pursuit attempting to apprehend the driver. Additional GBPD officers set up tire deflation devices in order to stop the driver from fleeing. When the fleeing driver saw the officers and the tire deflation devices, he stopped and gave himself up without further incident. Both the driver and passenger of the run vehicle were charged with multiple offenses relating to the accident as well as warrants. The bicyclist underwent surgery at the hospital and his condition is currently unknown. If anyone witnessed the accident and has not been interviewed by the police, please call the police department at (920) 448-3208 so that we may interview you. Names of those involved are not being released at this time as this is still an active investigation.
