HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA – March 22, 2018 – On March 20, 2018, Hollister Police Officers arrested a man after a brief vehicle pursuit and foot chase.

On the night of March 20, 2018, at about 9:35 PM, a Hollister Police Officer attempted to stop a vehicle, but the vehicle fled. The Officer decided to end the brief pursuit due to the suspect’s reckless actions.

The suspect vehicle was found a short time later in the area of B Street. Additional Officers arrived and were surrounding the area when the suspect was spotted. The suspect, later identified as being Cesar Montez Gonzalez (30) attempted to flee on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, Gonzalez was taken into custody without further incident.

During the course of this investigation, Officers learned that the vehicle Gonzalez was driving was stolen, there was a large amount of Methamphetamine on his person and an illegal sawed off rifle was in the vehicle.

Gonzalez was booked for resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, evading officers, a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possessing a short barreled rifle, possession of stolen property, a concealed weapon in a vehicle, possessing drug paraphernalia and two felony arrest warrants.
