Over the next 12 to 14 hours, or until about midnight tonight, the Montebello area will experience about one to two inches of rain. This amount of rain may result in minor localized urban flooding, as well as low to moderate levels of water in the Rio Hondo River. There is a potential for North Lincoln Avenue to be closed within the Whittier Narrows Dam between La Merced and San Gabriel Blvd. This area is continually being assessed by the Montebello Fire Department, and the Montebello Street Department, to determine if this area needs to be shut down as a result of flooding.
For your safety, we ask that you stay away from the Rio Hondo River and any other large bodies of water. If you should experience any areas of flooding in Montebello, please call the fire department so that it may be assessed. We will continue to provide you with any updates of flooding throughout the day.
