Advisory

Flash Flood Watch Issued

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect from 11 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 5 a.m. Due to heavy rain that is expected over the next couple of days, flash flooding and mud and debris flows are likely in and around recent burn areas in the watch area. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. One of the concerns in Santa Clarita is the Sand Fire burn area.

There is a chance that the Flash Flood Watch will need to be expanded to include other areas outside of recent burn areas during the peak of the storm system tonight into Thursday. The National Weather Service says "rainfall is expected to range from 2 to 4 inches across coastal and valley areas."

Remember, if you are driving and come across a flooded area - turn around, don’t drown! People often underestimate the force and power of water. It is NEVER safe to drive into flood waters.
