Advisory

3PM WEDNESDAY – WINTER STORM UPDATE- 1” OF SNOW PER HOUR POSSIBLE MID-AFTEROON THRU EVENING

So far, we've seen 0.5 - 2.0" in Mercer, Middlesex and S. Somerset counties, but it has been quite variable on pavements.  This variability is attributed to a varying intensity snow as it has not been persistently heavy. For at least the next few hours, that will continue to be the case as we alternate light to heavy snow. More bands are likely to form after 3 PM and we should see more frequent 1" per hour rates and pavement accumulation from mid-afternoon thru evening. Still think that we see a significant snowfall, however the full amounts seen on colder surfaces does not all occur on pavements. One other note, the snow trends to be a little drier through the storm and can lead to a bit more blowing/drifting, but lower the amount of downed trees and power lines.

ROAD CONDITIONS
All roads are passable, but conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly today.  Public Works crews have been salting roadways.
