WHAT YOU DO MATTERS: CRASE meets STOP THE BLEED Training

The Marietta Police Department and WellStar Kennestone Hospital’s Trauma Center are planning a training seminar to be held at Piedmont Church, 570 Piedmont Road Marietta, Thursday April 19, 2018, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

The Marietta Police Department has taught over 16,000 people the concepts of the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) program over the last several years.  The core principles of AVOID, DENY and DEFEND have been researched by Texas State University and proven to save lives of innocent people who find themselves trapped in an active shooter event.  The CRASE message of empowerment and situational awareness is powerful and will continue to be taught multiple times a year.

Most people know that (58) people were killed in the Las Vegas shooting tragedy last year.  Did you also know that (527) additional people were injured during the same tragedy?  This begs the question, “How can we better prepare our communities?”

Because WHAT YOU DO MATTERS, the Marietta Police Department is proud to announce that we have partnered with Trauma Services at WellStar Kennestone Hospital and the STOP THE BLEED campaign.  Developed by the Hartford Consensus, STOP THE BLEED is a program where civilians are taught life-saving skills to stop uncontrolled bleeding.  This training empowers the community to assist the injured until Emergency Medical Services arrive on scene of any serious casualty incident or as a manpower multiplier if EMS is overwhelmed.

Piedmont Church has asked for this training and graciously opened up their facility to the public.  We encourage you to sign up and join us on April 19th.  We hope you never find yourself in an emergency, but if you do, we want you to be prepared.
