EDT THURSDAY... * WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 9 to 12 inches are expected. * WHERE...Eastern Monmouth county. * WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 2 AM EDT Thursday. Mixed precipitation is expected to develop this afternoon before changing to rain, then change to all snow early Wednesday morning and be heavy at times. Thunder is possible Wednesday afternoon. The snow then tapers off Wednesday evening. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on very difficult travel conditions especially Wednesday afternoon and evening when snowfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour are expected. Significant reductions in visibility are expected. Widespread power outages are possible on Wednesday. Northeast to north winds will gust 25 to 45 mph at times. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
